Job summary

Salt Lake Community College seeks an adjunct welding instructor to teach a competency-based program on campus, preparing students for employment and industry certifications. The role requires hands-on instruction across oxy-acetylene, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and blueprint reading, with emphasis on safety and practical skill development.

This pooled, contract-to-contract position is reviewed as courses become available.

Qualifications

• Six years full-time paid, non-teaching welding experience or an associate degree with three years in the industry and four years welding experience.
• Must be a current member of the American Welding Society in good standing.
• Must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints and welding symbol systems (AWS).
• Proficiency in Oxy-Acetylene, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW welding processes.

Responsibilities

• Teach and facilitate learning in a competency-based welding program.
• Provide instruction across welding processes and blueprint reading to prepare for industry certifications.
• Advise students on program requirements and track progress with documentation and feedback.
• Collaborate with department instructors to develop and coordinate curriculum.
• Maintain safe instructional environment and adhere to college policies, including FERPA.
