Job summary

College of Charleston seeks an adjunct instructor for Studio Art (painting and drawing). The candidate must hold an MFA in painting and have teaching experience beyond graduate school, with the ability to teach perceptual oil painting and drawing at introductory levels.

Applicants should submit a portfolio of 20 artworks, 20 student works, a reference list, a cover letter, and a CV. Courses may include Painting 1/2 and Drawing 1/2, taught on a semester basis.

Qualifications

• MFA with a focus in painting and at least one year of teaching experience outside of graduate school.
• Ability to teach perceptual oil painting with a focus on still life, landscape, and the figure.
• Familiarity with historical and contemporary concepts in painting; ability to teach introductory-level drawing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach Painting 1 and Painting 2, Drawing 1 and Drawing 2 as available.
• Serve as an adjunct instructor for 1–3 courses per semester; contracts are semester-by-semester and enrollment-dependent.
