Job summary

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of recent, paid experience in a health care setting as an RRT practitioner.
  • Respiratory Therapy degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Hold a current RRT license in the state of Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively prepare and teach Respiratory Therapy classes as stipulated in the course syllabi.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student attendance records, grades, and other classroom documentation as applicable.
  • Demonstrate a depth of knowledge and understanding in the field of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Follow policies and procedures as defined by the Respiratory Therapy Program Handbook.
  • Respond to department and college communication within two business days.
  • Accept other duties as assigned, including assisting with clinical site visits.

Education

Job Summary

The Adjunct Respiratory Therapy Program position at Salt Lake Community College involves providing teaching support within the Respiratory Therapy Program. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach classes, assist in the lab, maintain student records, help with clinical site visits as needed, and ensure adherence to program policies. This role may involve both online and in-person instruction at the SLCC West Jordan Campus. At least five hours per week on Mondays are required, with possible additional needs on Tuesday through Friday as needed.

  • In accordance with SLCC policy, adjunct positions are offered on a semester-by-semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment.
  • Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within in 30 days of hire.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Effectively prepare and teach Respiratory Therapy classes as stipulated in the course syllabi.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student attendance records, grades, and other classroom documentation as applicable.
  • Demonstrate a depth of knowledge and understanding in the field of Respiratory Therapy
  • Follow policies and procedures as defined by the Respiratory Therapy Program Handbook.
  • Participate in trainings and other responsibilities as assigned and approved.
  • Respond to department and college communication within two business days.
  • Accept other duties as assigned. May include assisting with clinical site visits.
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
  • Return graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.
  • Conduct a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.
  • Inform students of progress-to-date periodically and assign and submit grades by published deadlines.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
  • Maintain professional and collegial behavior.
  • Handle/respond to student concerns/complaints, and respond to student communications and inquiries promptly.
  • Maintain professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.
  • Complete all required employee trainings.
  • Know and enforce FERPA guidelines.
  • Provide ADA accommodations as requested
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for on-line only courses

You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/ Instructor on a contract-to-contractbasis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a USDE regionally accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of recent, paid, clinical experience in health care settings as an RRT practitioner.
  • Evidence of post-secondary or hospital teaching experience in Respiratory Therapy.
