Job summary

Kansas Health Science University seeks an educator to lead curricular development in Biomedical Sciences. You will develop materials, organize sessions, and craft clinical cases while supporting accreditation, assessment, and faculty development.

The role includes student advising, participation in admissions activities, and involvement in testing and remediation. A terminal degree and US eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in a basic science field from an accredited institution with experience for Assistant Professor or higher.
• Track record of academic experience in biomedical sciences education.
• US work eligibility preferred; immigration sponsorship considered for highly qualified candidates.
• Maintain licensure to practice health care and be in good standing with regulatory boards.
• Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and willingness to learn course management software.

**Job Description:**Reporting to the Chair for Biomedical Sciences, this role will provide curricular development and support, specifically in the Medical Education Track.**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Develop and maintain educational materials* Organize and streamline the process of creating a class session* Author or assemble clinical cases and board-style questions* Demonstrate professionalism as defined by the KansasCOM declaration of faculty professionalism and responsibility* Foster a positive culture amongst students, faculty and KHSU-KansasCOM staff* Assist in accreditation, assessment, and quality improvement to include document creation, data collection and management, and education of faculty as assigned* Serve as requested in academic leadership roles* Serve as a student advisor and mentor, as assigned* Participate in interviewing prospective students* Assist in student testing, re-testing, and remediation as necessary* Perform other related duties, as assigned**QUALIFICATION(S):*** A terminal degree (PhD, DSc, DO, MD, etc.) in a basic science field from an accredited institution of higher education with appropriate experience for an Assistant Professor (or higher)* A track record of academic experience in biomedical sciences education* Preference that the applicant be qualified to work in the United States without sponsorship, however, the College will consider immigration sponsorship for highly qualified candidates* Maintain appropriate licensure for practice in health care and be in good standing with all regulatory and licensing boards and agencies, as applicable* Be detailed oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills* Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products and the desire and ability to learn software for course management and third-party learning resources.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:*** Additional training or experience in educational theory and/or evaluation* A record of success as a medical educator* Experience using innovative teaching methods, which might include team-based learning, “flipped classroom”, problem-based learning, distance learning, interactive large group presentation, audience response systems and curriculum delivery systems* Experience with curricular and instructional design* Record of scholarly activity**KEY COMPETENCIES:*** Ability to work both individually and collaboratively within a dynamic, inter-disciplinary environment* Leadership abilities in influencing and shaping performance* Self-directed synthesis of multiple information sources* Strong, effective, and diplomatic oral communication skills**DISCLAIMER:**The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
