Position Overview: We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated individual to join our counseling and school psychology program as an adjunct professor. As an adjunct professor, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education and training to our students in the field of counseling and school psychology. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the academic community, engage in scholarly activities, and make a positive impact on the next generation of counseling and school psychology professionals.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the counseling and school psychology program, including both foundational and specialized topics.
• Develop and deliver engaging lectures, presentations, and workshops that foster student learning and promote critical thinking.
• Facilitate classroom discussions and activities, encouraging active student participation and collaboration.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to students, both inside and outside the classroom, to facilitate their academic and professional development.
• Assess student performance through assignments, examinations, projects, and other evaluation methods, providing timely and constructive feedback.
• Stay current with developments in the field of counseling and school psychology, incorporating relevant research and best practices into instructional materials.
• Contribute to the ongoing curriculum development and improvement of the counseling and school psychology program, including the creation of new courses or revisions to existing courses.
• Engage in scholarly activities, such as research, publications, conference presentations, and grant applications, to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
• Collaborate with faculty members, staff, and other professionals to enhance the program's effectiveness and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Participate in program meetings, departmental activities, and professional development opportunities to stay informed about program goals and initiatives.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Experience in helping students secure field work placements and supervising students during their field experiences. Knowledge and experience in psychoeducational testing, including administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological assessments. Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification. Ability to integrate ABA principles into counseling and school psychology practice, particularly in supporting individuals with behavioral challenges or autism spectrum disorders. Interest in incorporating ABA and BCBA concepts into coursework and providing guidance to students interested in ABA-related career paths.

Requirements for Multicultural Competence: Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for multicultural issues and the ability to integrate cultural competency in teaching and practice. Knowledge of diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and the impact of these factors on counseling and school psychology services. Ability to create a culturally inclusive and respectful learning environment that values and incorporates diverse perspectives and experiences. Familiarity with culturally responsive assessment and intervention strategies to effectively serve diverse student populations. Commitment to ongoing professional development in multicultural competence and staying informed about current research and best practices in culturally sensitive counseling and school psychology. Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals from different cultural, racial, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. Sensitivity to and understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of marginalized and underrepresented groups within educational settings.

Minimum Education Requirements

• A master's degree in counseling psychology, school psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution. A doctoral degree is preferred.
• Current licensure or certification as a school psychologist, psychologist or counselor, or eligibility for licensure in the applicable jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated expertise in counseling and school psychology theories, techniques, and interventions.
• Knowledge of current ethical guidelines and legal regulations governing the practice of counseling and school psychology.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both teaching and practice.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Prior teaching experience at the university level or relevant professional experience is preferred but not required.

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) accreditation signifies the highest standards of excellence in school psychology training. By actively participating in the process, adjunct professors will help strengthen our program and ensure that it aligns with the rigorous NASP accreditation criteria. This includes collaborating with the program's leadership team, engaging in ongoing program evaluation and improvement efforts, and incorporating NASP standards into curriculum development and instruction. While prior experience with NASP accreditation is not a requirement, a willingness to support our program's pursuit of NASP accreditation is highly valued.
