Job summary

School of EMS is seeking an Adjunct Lab Instructor to deliver high-quality skills instruction and facilitate live EMS scenario labs. The role works with the Site Manager or Site Supervisor to support the program, align with policies, and ensure student engagement during sessions.

The instructor will grade psychomotor and affective performance, follow the scheduled lab plan, and participate in onboarding and periodic training to maintain program quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2 years in a prehospital system at the level instructing.
• Instructor Orientation completed prior to instructing students.
• Must meet state-specific instructor requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide live skills and scenario instruction during lab classes.

Reports to: Site Manager or Site Supervisor

SUMMARY:

The Adjunct Lab Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality skills instruction and scenario facilitation during live sessions.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides live skills and scenario instruction during lab classes.
• Supports the mission vision and values of the school to outside agencies
• Works closely with the primary instructor and SOE leadership in enforcing student compliance with policies and procedures
• Attends occasional team meetings and annual training
• Grades students on psychomotor and affective abilities according to the syllabus
• Follows the scheduled lab plan
• Reports on student progress and participates in debriefs
• Conducts themselves appropriately, especially if travelling

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

2 years in a prehospital system at the level instructing

The instructor must complete the School of EMS Instructor Orientation.

Part 1: Completed prior to instructing students

Part 2: Complete within 30 days of hire

Part 3: Complete online module within 30 days of hire. Should complete the entire onboarding process including card course instructor within 6 months of employment.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

State paramedic or EMT license in good standing, depending on the level instructing

Language Ability:

Must exhibit the ability to read, analyze, and interpret education-related material. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures as they relate to teaching certain topics within the EMS curriculum.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in different formats. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in the use of audio-visual equipment.

SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILTIIES:

May be assigned to assist in training new adjunct instructors
