Job summary

Jackson State Community College, part of the Tennessee Board of Regents system, seeks an Adjunct Instructor for Workforce Solutions Pool. Courses include technical training, computer skills, Lean/5S/Quality, OSHA safety, leadership, and healthcare-related programs for continuing education.

Teach on-ground, evening, off-campus and distance-based courses; maintain grades, submit reports, comply with college policies, and coordinate with the Program Chair or Dean as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses on-ground as assigned and, when required, evenings, off-campus and distance-based courses.
  • Post grades during the term for student feedback and submit final grades by the registrar deadlines.
  • Complete required college trainings and all required reports (attendance, progress reports, grade submissions) and notify the Program Chair/Dean if unable to teach.
  • Check JSCC email and departmental mailbox regularly and respond within 48 hours (weekends excepted).
  • Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to first day of class or within seven days of contract execution.

Title: Adjunct Instructor - Workforce Solutions (Pool)

Institution: Jackson State Community College

Job Summary

Provide non-credit instruction through the Division of Workforce Development. Courses taught include (but are not limited to) technical training (electrical circuits, PLC, fluid power, robotics), computer skills (basic skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe), Lean/5S/Quality, OSHA safety, leadership skills, and healthcare related programs for continuing education.

Job Duties
  • Teach courses via on ground as assigned. Teach evening, off-campus, and distance-based courses as required.
  • Post grades during the term for student feedback and submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar.
  • Complete required College trainings and complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Advise the Program Chair or Dean at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class. Attend meetings as requested by the Program Chair and/or Dean. Comply with all the College's and TBR's policies and guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
  • Regularly check your JSCC email and your departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend.
  • Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract.
Minimum Qualifications

Dependent on course taught.

Preferred Qualifications

Collegiate level teaching experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
