Job Overview

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. Applicants are encouraged to apply for a continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position. The applicant will be added to a pool for consideration when openings arise. If selected, the candidate will be contacted for the appointment.

Primary Duties
  • Teach courses in the approved discipline.
  • Provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of specific learning outcomes identified for assigned courses.
  • Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, including face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual‑credit instruction.
  • Adhere to College policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely feedback and respond to student communications.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
  • Be available for student appointments.
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings and assess courses at departmental and institutional levels.
  • Complete any required training and other related duties as assigned.
Teaching Modality and Schedule
  • Courses may be taught face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, or dual‑credit.
  • Hours vary; may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
  • Flexibility to teach evening and/or weekend classes is required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching workforce certificate or degree‑completion courses.
  • Appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
  • Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.
  • Degree and experience requirements:
    • Associate degree and 2–5 years of work experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree and 6–10 years of work experience.
    • Master’s degree and 11–15 years of work experience.
    • Doctorate and 16+ years of work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual‑credit courses.
  • Ability to deliver instruction that achieves specific goals and objectives.
  • Ability to create a professional and effective learning environment.
  • Effective communication with students, college personnel, peers, and public groups.
  • Commitment to treating all persons with respect and dignity, without discrimination.
  • Exercise of highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources.
  • Compliance with College policies and procedures.
Additional Requirements

This position is designated as a security‑sensitive position requiring a satisfactory criminal history background check.

Males between the ages of 18 and 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
