Job summary

College of the Mainland is seeking a Nursing adjunct to teach in the didactic setting and/or clinical rotations for vocational and/or ADN students. The role is part-time adjunct with regular funding.

Requirements include a Master’s in Nursing with Texas licensure and at least three years of recent clinical practice; preferred is prior higher education teaching experience and strong student engagement and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Nursing with Texas Licensure; Three (3) years of recent relevant clinical practice experience in a medical setting.
  • Two years experience in a higher education setting as Nursing Adjunct or Nursing Professor.
  • Current and Unencumbered Texas RN or Texas multistate licensure.

  • Provide scheduled office hours for student consultation.
  • Participate in student orientation and adjunct orientation.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

Two years experience in a higher education setting as Nursing Adjunct or Nursing Professor.

Principles and practices of teaching;
Training techniques;
Detailed knowledge of material being taught in the specific course and program area;
Knowledge of student engagement techniques;
Record keeping procedures.
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Ability to conduct formal classes in all nursing subject areas.
Ability to provide supervision to students during clinical practicums.
Ability to adapt instructional content in order to meet learning needs of students from varied educational and cultural backgrounds.

Recent experience commensurate with curriculum

Licensing/Certification Requirements

Current and Unencumbered Texas RN or Texas multistate licensure.
Clear Drug Screen.
Clear Background check
Proof of immunizations and clinical readiness documentation.

Physical Requirements

High physical demand. Must be able to stoop, bend, lift, and assist in patient care/clinical teaching situations, or demonstrate ability to perform tasks successful. Possible exposure to communicable diseases through patient care clinical experience. Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, and/or weekends when assigned.
