Job summary

Halifax Community College seeks an adjunct instructor to deliver instruction and support student success across multiple disciplines. You will develop syllabi, outlines, and lesson plans for assigned courses, create lectures and lab activities, and monitor progress.

You will administer tests, provide feedback, maintain records, and use instructional technologies. Timely reports and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the desired teaching discipline.
• Online teaching experience is beneficial.
• All degrees must be from accredited institutions.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes
• Create an effective learning environment
• Meet classes as assigned
• Present instruction based on student learning outcomes and performance levels
• Use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles
• Use course text, outlines, syllabi and other curriculum materials per guidelines
• Maintain classroom safety, housekeeping, and equipment security
• Submit required instructional and administrative reports and records on time
• Maintain accurate attendance and scholastic records
• Stay informed about program developments and new trends in area of expertise
• Contribute to quality enhancement through assessment of student learning outcomes
• Fulfill all contract provisions
• Maintain professionalism as a college representative
