Job summary

Iowa Valley Community College District is seeking an Adjunct Instructor – Mathematics to teach in the Faculty department. The position reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences and pays $750 per credit hour; must reside in Iowa and be eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities include creating an inclusive learning environment, maintaining records, assessing progress, supporting recruitment and retention efforts, and maintaining professional relationships with students and colleagues

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the discipline or a Master’s degree plus 12 graduate credits in related fields.
• 6000 hours of recent, practical occupational experience for vocational-technical instructors.
• Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level is preferred.

Education and Experience

Must meet minimum experience and education requirements established by Iowa Valley Community College District. Must be approved to teach in the assigned area as defined by the Iowa Department of Education and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Arts and sciences instructors must possess a master’s degree in the discipline or a master’s degree in any field plus 12 graduate credit hours in a combination of qualifying fields related to the discipline. Vocational-technical instructors who do not possess teacher education credentials, teaching experience, or applicable degrees must demonstrate at least 6,000 hours of recent, practical occupational experience. Candidates must also have the necessary education, training, and/or work experience to demonstrate expertise in the field to be taught. Prior teaching experience, preferably at the postsecondary level, is preferred.
