Job summary

Broward College seeks a passionate educator and practitioner to teach Marine Engineering topics to a diverse student body, delivering both traditional face-to-face and blended instruction. The candidate should demonstrate mastery of their discipline, commitment to student success, and strong technology-enabled teaching skills.

Office hours are required; evening and weekend availability may be needed. A Marine Master Technician Certification with at least three ABYC certifications is required.

Qualifications

  • Prior college teaching experience preferred.
  • Willing to teach in traditional and blended formats.
  • High level of computer literacy and commitment to teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in traditional face-to-face and blended (hybrid) formats.
  • Maintain office hours; some evenings/weekends may be required.

Job Description Summary

Candidates should be passionate educators and practitioners who can facilitate the needs of diverse 21st century learners who aspire to practice in the respective field. Candidates should demonstrate (1) a mastery of their specific discipline; (2) a deep commitment to the college mission of fostering student success, achievement and persistence; (3) technology competencies as well as teaching/counseling skills and strategies that facilitate 21st century literacies; (4) the use of resources that prepare students for productive lives; (5) experience using various educational technological mediums.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Naval Engineering. OR A.S. Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Marine Field. Ph.D. preferred.

Minimum Experience/Training

Prior college teaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and a commitment to teaching. The successful candidate must be willing and able to teach in both the traditional face-to-face and blended (hybrid) format. Broward College places special importance on helping under - prepared students achieve academic success. All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours.

Minimum Certification/Licenses
