Job summary

The University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, Impact Lab seeks a part-time instructor to support its undergraduate teaching mission. Courses may include BA 2062: Powerful Problem Solving and other upcoming offerings, delivered in-person or online during the day or evenings.

Responsibilities include textbook selection, evaluating and grading students, supervising teaching assistants, holding office hours, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 3 years teaching experience in a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses is preferred.
  • Ability to manage teaching assistants and provide office hours.

About the department: The Minnesota Carlson Impact Lab trains undergraduate students in problem-solving and delivers course-based, socially impactful experiential projects to every student in Minnesota Carlson. One of the key distinguishing characteristics of effective leaders is the ability to parse through the overwhelming number of inputs we all receive to understand what needs to be done. “What problem are we trying to solve?” is a crucial question that too often goes unaddressed in the rush to “just fix it”. Lecturers teaching Powerful Problem Solving will expose students to a clear problem-solving framework and process, a variety of perspectives on how to approach problems, as well as individual and group activities and assignments to inform and sharpen skills.

About the job: This position is part-time and will support the teaching mission of the Impact Lab in the Carlson School of Management Undergraduate Program. Courses taught could include the following at the undergraduate level: BA 2062: Powerful Problem Solving as well as other future, new courses under development. Courses are offered in-person and/or online during the day as well as in the evenings.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years teaching experience in a closely related field.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $3,200 per credit taught per semester.
