Job summary

Dyersburg State Community College invites applicants to teach History as adjunct instructors for day, evening, and online classes in Dyersburg, Covington, Paris, or other off-campus centers. Initial assignment may move between locations; use of the eLearn system is required for all classes.

You will attend meetings, report attendance and final grades by deadlines, and communicate with chairs/deans about needs and changes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in History.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and other college personnel.
• Familiarity with course management systems (eLearn) and timely reporting of attendance and grades.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned History courses at Covington, Dyersburg, and Paris and/or off-campus centers.
• Prepare course materials and evaluate student learning; maintain records and submit reports on time.
• Attend required meetings and communicate curriculum or personnel needs to the assigned chair/dean.

Dyersburg State Community College invites applicants for History adjunct instructors for day, evening, and online classes held in Dyersburg, Covington, Paris, or at one of our other off-campus centers. Initial assignment may be at one of our teaching locations, but the official work station assignment may change each semester. The successful applicant will become certified and fully use the course management system (eLearn) for all classes. The applicant will also attend required meetings, report attendance, early alert notifications, and final grades prior to the established deadline, and will communicate curriculum and personnel needs or changes as appropriate to their assigned chair/dean. This position reports to the Chair of Humanities/Social Sciences and the Dean of Arts, Sciences, & Technologies.

Requirements of the Position

Teach assigned courses for discipline in Covington, Dyersburg, and/or Paris; prepare course materials; evaluate student learning, maintain class records, and submit required reports on time.

Working Conditions

Sedentary: Desk work; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
