Job summary

Palm Beach State College in Florida is seeking an adjunct instructor in geology or earth science to support open course offerings. This role participates in course development, scheduling, and student advising as part of a flexible, open continuous applicant pool.

Must hold a master’s degree in Geology or Earth Science (or a master’s with 18 graduate hours) and be able to work evenings and weekends. Knowledge of Canvas and Office is desirable, with strong communication and organizational skills.

What An Adjunct Instructor’s Day Looks Like

• Develops, maintains, interprets, and executes administrative procedures and practices. This activity includes developing and maintaining manuals regarding the College's policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
• Analyzes class and program needs of the College. Determines and recommends the retention or deletion of courses.
• Develops and coordinates program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates. Maintains calendar as necessary to track these schedules and adjusts as required.
• Assist students and program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities.

Education And Experience

• Master's degree in Geology or Earth Science or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Geology or Earth Science.

Knowledge Of

• Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
• Utilize Canvas Learning Management System and other instructional technologies

Ability To

• Interact positively with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Pay Rates

Standard hourly rates vary based on the assigned course level and educational credentials.

Must have the ability to work a fluctuating schedule to include evenings and weekends.
