Palm Beach State College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor in Electrical Technology to teach and develop curriculum for college students using instructional theories and current industry practices.

You will contribute to program evaluation, align courses with the college's mission, and participate in department activities. The position requires adaptability to fluctuating schedules, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate or higher degree in Electrical Technology or related discipline.
• Journeyman License or Electrical Contractors License and related industry experience.
• Electrical industry training with NCCER or similar credential and 5+ years of related experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and instructional technologies.

About This Role

Instruct college students in accordance with educational theories and techniques. Develops discipline related curricula, assess student learning, participates in program evaluation, and college activities. Maintains college and department standards in support of the College's mission and strategic plan.

Work schedule varies according to teaching assignment.

What An Adjunct Instructor’s Day Looks Like

• Develops, maintains, interprets, and executes administrative procedures and practices. This activity includes developing and maintaining manuals regarding the College's policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
• Analyzes class and program needs of the College. Determines and recommends the retention or deletion of courses.
• Develops and coordinates program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates. Maintains calendar as necessary to track these schedules and adjusts as required.
• Assist students and program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities.

Education And Experience

• Associate or higher degree in Electrical Technology or related discipline, and related industry experience

OR

• Journeyman License or Electrical Contractors License and related industry experience

OR

• Electrical industry training culminating in an industry-recognized credential (NCCER & others) and five or more years of related industry experience.

Knowledge Of

• Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
• Utilize Canvas Learning Management System and other instructional technologies

Ability To

• Interact positively with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Work Environment And Physical Demand

• Reach and grasp objects
• Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Use of video display terminal
• Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
• Communicate information orally and in writing
• Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
• Proofread and check documents for accuracy

Pay Rates

Standard hourly rates vary based on the assigned course level and educational credentials.

Must have the ability to work a fluctuating schedule to include evenings and weekends.
