Job summary

Lamar State College Port Arthur is seeking an Adjunct Economics Instructor to teach economics courses across day, evening, and online formats at on-campus and partner sites. The position reports to the Business and Industrial Technology Department.

Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction, contributing to curriculum development and assessment, attending faculty meetings, staying current with economics trends, and providing timely responses to students and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in any field with eighteen graduate hours in Economics.
• Work independently in the classroom.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Strong time management and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Job description

The Adjunct Economics Instructor has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, teaching economics courses and completing all duties associated with teaching. Assigned classes may occur during the day, evening, and/or online with varying teaching locations including on-campus, dual enrollment, and Early College High School. This position reports to LSCPA’s Business and Industrial Technology Department.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in any field with eighteen (18) graduate hours in Economics
• Work independently in the classroom
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Possess great time management and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Economics
• Teaching experience in higher education
• Teaching experience at a two-year college

Physical Requirements

Duties may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting or moving of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity are required to ensure effective instruction and safe supervision of students in classroom and laboratory settings.

Work Hours

Monday – Friday, with possibility of some evenings, depending upon class schedule.
