Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary

By applying to this pool, you are not applying for a specific position. You are submitting your application to be considered for adjunct appointments that may become available at Southern Oregon University during the posted triennium. Adjuncts are for specific temporary, part‑time, limited‑duration teaching positions. Positions can be one term (thirteen weeks) or multiple terms as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses within the Physical Education Activities program.
  • Prepare lesson plans and course materials.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students.
  • Maintain office hours and be available for student contact outside of class.
  • Participate in course and curriculum planning.
  • Engage in professional development to maintain currency in the discipline.

Compensation

Rate: $650 per earned learning unit (ELU) for term‑by‑term adjunct instructors. Full‑time equivalency is typically less than 7.5 ELU per term, up to 15 ELU per term or 45 ELU per year for 1.0 full‑time equivalence.

This position is not eligible for benefits.

Conditions of Employment

The position is classified as exempt and is not subject to overtime regulations under the Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA). An earned background check is required, and the incumbent is a mandated reporter under Oregon law. The role may require flexibility in working hours, including potential evening, weekend, and additional hours, and travel for training or professional development.
