The University of North Florida's School of Communication is seeking an adjunct faculty member for a part-time, semester-by-semester appointment in the undergraduate program. The appointment is non-tenure earning with a flexible schedule as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Communication or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Previous undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in communication scholarship and computer software usage.
  • Preferred: Experience teaching Media Theories and Effects courses at an undergraduate level.
  • Preferred: Experience teaching in a Learning Management System (LMS), particularly Canvas.

  • Teach assigned undergraduate course(s) in Communication or a closely related discipline, following the approved syllabus and course schedule.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging, current, and rigorous instruction.
  • Maintain effective course communication, including announcements and grading policies.

General Description

The School of Communication is seeking to hire an Adjunct faculty member for a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester position. The appointment is non‑tenure earning and has a flexible schedule as needed.

Appointment Details
  • Start Date: August 3, 2026
  • Term: One academic term, with no continuing contractual relationship
  • Work Schedule: Part‑time, varies; no supervisory responsibilities
  • Office Hours: At least one hour per week (virtual office hours may be scheduled by appointment)

About the Department

The School of Communication offers a B.S. in Communication with concentrations in advertising, digital video production, multimedia journalism, and public relations. A B.A. in Communication Studies focuses on organizational and mediated communication. Minors include mass communication, communication studies, political campaigns, and social media. The program is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.
