The Opportunity

Washington State University Tri‑Cities (WSU Tri‑Cities) College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) seeks to develop an applicant pool for adjunct faculty to teach in‑person courses throughout the 2026‑2027 academic year. CAS serves the majority of students enrolled on the Tri‑Cities campus with courses in over 15 disciplines across the Arts, Social Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

Adjunct faculty hold temporary positions with employers other than WSU and teach traditional semester‑long courses for 4.5 months (Fall and Spring semesters). Teaching focuses on instruction in large enrollment lower‑division courses, upper‑division courses, and laboratory sessions.

Applicable disciplines or academic areas within the Physical Sciences include:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Environmental Science
  • Mathematics, including Math Education
  • Statistics
  • Physics and/or Astronomy

Instruction is fully in‑person, may occur during the day, afternoon, evening, and/or weekend. The adjunct faculty appointment contains no guarantee of continued employment beyond the semester course assignment or any assigned hourly or substitute work assignments. Pay is determined based on the instructional mode (lecture or lab).

  • Demonstrated record of successful teaching across a range of student demographics.
  • Minimum of one‑year experience teaching college courses in the relevant area(s).
Compensation and Benefits

Annual Salary: $25,952.40 – $47,047.50 (100% FTE). Salary is pro‑rated based on course credits and type of instruction.
