Job summary

East Texas A&M University in Dallas seeks an Adjunct Faculty member to teach paralegal courses face-to-face. You will deliver live lectures, develop and manage syllabi, plan and create lectures, and assess student work.

Requires Juris Doctorate, at least three years of legal practice, and a state bar license. Knowledge of paralegal topics and strong communication skills are essential. Teaching experience is preferred and the role reports to the Political Science Department.

SUMMARY

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course by course basis throughout an academic year.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach live lecture to paralegal students at the Dallas campus.

  • Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.

  • Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.

  • Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.

  • Assist/mentor students as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Juris Doctorate.

  • Experience: Three years of experience practicing law. Must have previous experience working with paralegals/legal assistants.

  • Knowledge / Skills: Must be knowledgeable and remain current in the subject matter of assigned courses. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills to facilitate instruction in classes and engagement with students.

  • Ability to: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Licensed by a state bar.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
  • Candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials.

  • College or University teaching experience.

  • Evidence of teaching excellence.

  • Prior relevant industry experience.
