Job summary

NOVA seeks adjunct faculty in Mathematics to teach courses across face-to-face, remote, and online formats at Loudoun. Appointees will teach up to 12 credit hours fall/spring and up to 8 in summer, with load depending on enrollment and staffing needs. The contract carries no guaranteed ongoing employment.

Required qualifications include a Master’s or higher in the field or a Master’s with 18 graduate hours, plus experience in higher education and diverse learning environments.

• Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field.
• Prior experience teaching in higher education, especially in a community college.
• Ability to teach in classrooms, hybrid, and online formats.

Job Description

General Description:

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Teaching may include a variety of formats: face to face, remote, and online. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment.

Essential Functions:

As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.

Must reside in the (DC, VA, MD) DMV area.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
