Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Teaching faculty are responsible for providing learning activities that lead to the achievement of course objectives. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses in a manner that facilitates student learning. Adjunct faculty work part‑time on a semester‑by‑semester basis, teaching up to five classes per academic year as needed.

Essential Job Functions

1. Teach Machining courses at various times and locations.
2. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
3. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
4. Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following institutional guidelines.
5. Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
6. Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and inform them of their progress promptly.
7. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
8. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
9. Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities

Work may require standing for long periods, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Some tasks require climbing an 8‑foot ladder and above‑average agility, dexterity, and hand‑eye coordination.

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other standard office equipment.
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
• Work is performed in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
• Hours vary by class time; instructors must be available to students outside of class instruction.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in machining or manufacturing technology; minimum 3 years of work experience in the field.
• OR Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/industrial engineering or mechanical/industrial engineering technology; minimum 3 years of work experience in the field.

Salary

$59.80 per contact hour.
