Job summary

Governors State University’s College of Arts and Sciences seeks to create an available pool of local Adjunct Faculty candidates to teach undergraduate courses in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDSS) in the Chicagoland area.

Adjuncts are hired per course, with a salary range of $500 to $3,750 per course, and preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree and online teaching experience. We invite qualified individuals to submit a faculty profile, CV, transcripts, and references.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies or related discipline.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate classes at an accredited college or university.
  • Doctoral degree in interdisciplinary studies or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience teaching online is preferred.
  • Experience teaching academic writing and career planning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies (IDSS) courses.
  • Contribute to course development and syllabus alignment.
  • Engage local Chicagoland students as part of the adjunct pool.

Adjuncts are hired on a course basis each term.

Salary Range for Adjuncts teaching in this academic area is $500.00- $3,750.00 per course.

Governors State University’s Collegeof Arts and Sciences seeks to create an available pool of local (Chicagoland area) Adjunct Faculty candidates to teach undergraduate courses in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDSS).

Essential Responsibilities

We are particularly interested in adjunct faculty to teach IDSS courses in the following areas:

  • Academic Writing
  • Career Planning
  • Interdisciplinary Theories

Interested individuals are invited to complete a faculty profile, attach a curriculum vita, cover letter, transcripts and list of references for consideration. If available, please also include a sample syllabus or a current or recently taught course.

At Governors State University, adjunct faculty are hired as temporary faculty with teaching responsibilities for a specific course in a semester or summer session. Adjuncts are not a part of the faculty bargaining unit and are not included in membership of the Faculty Senate.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate classes at an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in interdisciplinary studies, education, the humanities, social sciences, or a multi-disciplinary field such as Black & Africana Studies or Gender & Sexuality Studies.
  • Experience teaching online at an accredited college or university.
  • Experience teaching academic writing.
  • Experience teaching career planning.
