Job description

Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty for the English Program in the College of Theology, Arts, & Humanities. Part‑time teaching opportunities are available throughout the academic year. Applicants with expertise that matches course scheduling needs will be contacted for an interview.

Current opportunities include teaching the following courses for the Fall 2026 semester:

  • ENG-1100: English Composition – several face‑to‑face sections, some meeting Tuesday/Thursday for 75 minutes and some meeting Monday/Wednesday/Friday for 50 minutes.
Minimum Requirements
  • M.A. in English or Rhetoric/Composition required; Ph.D. in English (or ABD) preferred.
  • At least two years of experience teaching first‑year college writing courses preferred; other relevant teaching experience will be considered.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to use a learning management system (LMS); CUC currently uses Blackboard Ultra.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle all situations in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS).
