Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College seeks an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Diesel Technology at the Indianapolis campus. The role is part-time, with responsibilities including delivering classes, using technology to enhance learning, and maintaining course materials and records.

The candidate should meet the education requirements (ASE certification or DOE Workplace Specialist License with related experience) and demonstrate commitment to inclusive teaching and FERPA compliance.

Qualifications

• Or a Workplace Specialist License with COR as indicated in the Curriculum of Record.
• ASE Certification is required to teach the course.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classes per college policy and course objectives.
• Utilize technology to enhance instruction.
• Create and update outlines, syllabi, plans, assignments, tests, and maintain records.
• Engage with students to foster positive learning experiences and implement active teaching strategies.
• Interact professionally with students and staff while following policies and FERPA.
• Ensure knowledge and use of emergency and safety procedures in classrooms and labs.

About the Role

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and coworkers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A qualified faculty member meets the education component of the School of Technology discipline standard through one of two routes:

Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And, 5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or

Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR).
