Job description

Purpose and Scope

Adjunct faculty are responsible for providing learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Essential Job Functions

1. Teach Computer Information Technology courses at a variety of times and locations.
2. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
3. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
4. Use a course syllabus following institutional guidelines.
5. Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
6. Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner.
7. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
8. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
9. Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other office equipment.
• Interaction with internal and external contacts as needed.
• Work performed in climate‑controlled classroom/lab environments with minimal safety hazards.
• Hours vary with class times; instructors must be available for meetings and student support outside of instructional time.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in a specific technology area.

Salary

$55.44 per contact hour.
