The Chicago School, a private, non-profit graduate school, invites applications for adjunct faculty in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at our Los Angeles Campus.

The position focuses on teaching doctoral‑level psychology courses in a practitioner‑scholar setting. Primary duties include delivering coursework, guiding students through the empirical literature, timely grading, and maintaining office hours to support student learning.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree is required.
• Graduate of an APA-accredited program (if degree is in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology).
• Psychologist licensed or license eligible (for teaching clinically related courses).
• Strong commitment to academic excellence, diversity, community service, and scholarship.
• Expertise or training in the specific area of instruction.

The Los Angeles Campus of The Chicago School was established in 2008 in Downtown Los Angeles.

Position Summary

The Clinical Psychology department is seeking highly qualified candidates for adjunct faculty positions at our Los Angeles Campus to teach in our APA accredited Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) program. Our faculty members typify the practitioner‑scholar model of education to teach doctoral‑level psychology courses.

Principal Duties

The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty members is to teach courses by sharing theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject, guiding students through the relevant empirical literature base, and when applicable, encouraging direct application to the workplace within the field of clinical psychology.

• Timely grading of assignments and providing quality feedback;
• Availability outside of regular class meetings (i.e., office hours) to address student’s questions and concerns.

Adjunct faculty will be provided model course syllabi with recommended course texts and required primary source prior to beginning the teaching assignment. Modifications of syllabi are possible with approval of the Department Chair.

This opportunity is budgeted at $1,124-1,540 per credit and may vary per course with student enrollment. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
