Lone Star College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Continuing Education courses in the Certified Nursing Aide Program at LSC-Tomball. This part-time role involves delivering lectures, supervising on-site labs, and coordinating off-site clinicals to prepare students for state certification.

The ideal candidate holds a Texas RN or LVN license with at least two years of nursing experience and prior teaching or supervision of Nurse Aids, and is proficient with Learning Management

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) currently licensed in the state of Texas.
  • At least two years of nursing experience.
  • Completed course of teaching adult students, or adult teaching experience or experience supervising Nurse Aids.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches Continuing Education courses in the Certified Nursing Aide Program.
  • Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course following established institutional guidelines.
  • Instructs students in lecture, on-site laboratory, and off-site clinical facilities, correlating theory with practice for state certification.
  • Complies with TDHHS and Lone Star College program expectations.
  • Performs ongoing written student evaluations and provides feedback.
  • Evaluates student progress using various assessment methods and communicates outcomes.
  • Submits required college reports and forms.
  • Provides timely access to students through office hours and electronic communication.
  • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Performs other reasonable related duties.

Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
  1. Teaches Continuing Education courses in the Certified Nursing Aide Program
  2. Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course following established institutional guidelines
  3. Instructs students in lecture, on-site laboratory, and off-site clinical facilities, correlating theory with the practice of basic nursing care for residents of long-term facilities in preparation for the state certification examination
  4. Complies with state requirements established by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services (TDHHS) and Lone Star College program expectations
  5. Performs ongoing, written student evaluations in the form of the Texas Nurse Aide Performance Record and evaluates student comprehension by administering written tests based on lecture/lab materials, and provides oral and written feedback to students as appropriate
  6. Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress
  7. Submits required college reports and forms
  8. Provides timely, quality access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods
  9. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  10. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
  • Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:

· Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment

· Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position

· Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

· Hours will vary depending on class time; instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) currently licensed in the state of Texas
  • At least two years of nursing experience
  • Completed course of teaching adult students, or adult teaching experience or experience supervising Nurse Aids
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Associate degree in Healthcare or Health related field
  • Previous Charge Nurse experience in a long-term care facility or at least one year of experience providing long term care services in a nursing facility
Salary

$56.55 per contact hour.
