Job Description

Purpose and Scope

Provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment. Plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning.

Adjunct faculty are hired part‑time semester‑by‑semester, contingent on institutional needs. Candidates may teach up to five classes per academic year and are offered day, evening, and weekend classes at various times and locations.

Essential Job Functions

• Teach anthropology courses at a variety of times and locations.
• Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
• Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
• Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
• Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
• Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them timely.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
• Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities

The work is largely sedentary. Occasional walking, standing, bending, light carrying, or driving an automobile may be required.

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Equipment includes a PC workstation on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
• Work is performed in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
• Hours vary depending on class time; instructors are required to meet with classes at scheduled times and be available to students outside instruction.

Required Qualifications

Salary

$55.44 per contact hour.
