Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver classes in alignment with College policy and course objectives. You will enhance learning using technology and will develop syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials while keeping accurate records of student performance.

The role emphasizes engaging with students through active teaching strategies and abiding by all College policies, guiding students toward successful outcomes and a positive Ivy Tech experience.

Qualifications

• Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree in a biological science.
• Possesses a master’s or higher degree in any field with 18 graduate hours in biology-related courses.
• Experience delivering classes and using technology in accordance with syllabi.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes per College policy and course objectives.
• Develops and maintains syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials; maintains student records and grades.
• Engages with students to foster meaningful learning experiences and implements active teaching strategies.
• Interacts with students and colleagues professionally and adheres to College policies and guidelines.
• Ensures knowledge of and implementation of emergency and safety procedures in classrooms and labs.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

A qualified faculty member in anatomy and physiology meets the discipline standard through one of two routes:

• Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a biological science, or
• Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in biology-related courses.
