Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Accounting courses at the South Bend campus. This part-time, per-contract-hour role supports student learning and uses technology to enhance instruction.

Qualified candidates hold an accounting degree from a regionally accredited school (CPA preferred). Responsibilities include developing course materials, maintaining records, and exceeding college policy guidelines while fostering student success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a regionally accredited institution; documentation in two or more of: in-field professional certification, two years of in-field professional employment, teaching excellence, research/publication in the field, or 18 semester hours of related coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned Accounting classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
  • Develop, update, and deliver course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records and grades.
  • Engage with students to foster meaningful learning and active classroom strategies.
  • Comply with FERPA and college policies; maintain professional interactions with students and staff.
  • Adhere to safety and emergency procedures in all learning environments.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis to provide instruction, support student learning, and deliver assigned Accounting courses in accordance with Ivy Tech policies and common course syllabi.

Location: Ivy Tech Community College - South Bend Department: Accounting Employment Type: Part Time Compensation: $47.35/Per Contract Hour

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

  • All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • A qualified faculty member for ACCT 101 and ACCT 102 meets the course standard through one of two routes:
  • Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree in accounting, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • In-field professional certification (national, regional, or state)
    • Two years of in-field professional employment
    • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military
  • Possesses and earned Bachelor’s degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
