Job summary

Roanoke-Chowan Community College invites applications for qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in the ACA program, in-person. Adjunct faculty support student learning by delivering high-quality instruction, maintaining accurate records, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, hybrid, or online courses depending on departmental needs, with expectations to use Moodle for grading and FERPA confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the discipline, or a Master’s with 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in the field.
• Relevant industry certifications and licenses.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the field.
• College-level teaching experience preferred.
• Experience with Moodle, Canvas, or other learning management systems.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned ACA courses aligned with outcomes, accreditation standards, and policies.
• Develop engaging instruction using current methodologies and learning technologies.
• Provide clear instructions and timely feedback on assignments.
• Maintain attendance records and certify attendance by deadlines.
• Maintain grade records in Moodle throughout the semester.
• Respect diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
• Report student conduct issues following institutional protocol.
• Post the syllabus in Moodle and provide printed copies for in-person students.
• Use only college email and respond within 24–48 hours.
• Submit final grades and required documentation by deadlines.
• Remain on site for the full duration of each scheduled class meeting.
• Attend all scheduled sessions and notify supervisor of absences.
• Participate in orientation, training, and professional development.
• Uphold FERPA confidentiality.
