Qualifications

  • Three+ years of K-12 teaching experience.
  • Florida Department of Education teaching certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction for assigned courses in accordance with approved curriculum and course objectives.
  • Supervise and evaluate student field experiences as required by the program.
  • Prepare and submit course syllabi through Simple Syllabus at least 45 days prior to the start of the semester.
  • Complete attendance verification and other required enrollment reporting within established deadlines.
  • Evaluate student learning through quizzes, exams, written assignments, and performance-based assessments, and maintain accurate and timely grade records in Canvas.
  • Submit final grades by designated deadlines.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and responsiveness to student questions and concerns.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment that promotes student success.
  • Integrate instructional technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and adjunct faculty meetings as appropriate.
  • Complete all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

The Adjunct Instructor, Teacher Education focused within Mathematics, is responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality instruction in teacher education courses, assessing and grading student coursework, and providing timely feedback to support student success. This position fosters an inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of diverse learners from a variety of backgrounds, collaborates in course development and improvement efforts, and teaches in alignment with the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs) to prepare future educators for professional success.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivering instruction for assigned courses in accordance with approved curriculum and course objectives.
  • Supervising and evaluating student field experiences as required by the program.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in Mathematics; or Master's degree in Education or equivalent with state certification in Mathematics; or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics.
  • A valid Florida Department of Education teaching certificate;
  • Proven three or more years of K-12 teaching experience;
  • A willingness to make students active partners in the teaching and/or learning process;
  • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. Indian River State College expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
