Job summary

Porter and Chester Institute in Waterbury, CT is seeking a Dental Assisting Instructor to translate real-world chairside experience into classroom and lab learning. You will help students connect textbook concepts with today’s dental practices, teaching both theory and hands-on skills.

You’ll prepare students for certification, mentor them in professionalism, and contribute to a supportive academic team. We provide training to anyone transitioning from clinical work to teaching.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Dental Assistant.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Dental Assistant through DANB or willingness to obtain at hire.
• CPR certification.
• Ability to use common software programs (MS Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Great interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Dental Assisting Instructor, you’ll bring real-world chairside experience into the classroom and lab, helping students connect textbook concepts to what actually happens in today’s dental practices.

You will:

• Mentor students as they build technical skills, professionalism, and confidence in patient interaction
• Prepare students for certification and entry-level Dental Assisting roles
• Evaluate student performance and provide constructive, supportive feedback
• Participate in paid instructor training and ongoing professional development
• Work independently while supported by a collaborative academic and administrative team

No lesson plans from scratch. We provide curriculum, training, and instructional support.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Dental Assistant required
