Job summary

York Technical College seeks an instructor to lead dental assisting instruction. You will provide syllabi, grading policies, timely assessments, and clear course objectives while using appropriate instructional technology.

You will maintain a positive classroom environment, manage workloads efficiently, and ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to college policies. This role involves coordinating with college staff and supporting student success.

Qualifications

• CODA accredited dental assisting program is required.
• Associate degree in related field if a dental assisting diploma program.
• Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification is required.
• Minimum of two years of work experience as a CDA.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with syllabus, grading/attendance policy and information promptly.
• Present instructional materials, discussions, examples, and illustrations clearly.
• Pace instruction across the academic term to meet learning goals.
• Provide students with timely assessments and return results promptly.
• Ensure assessments align with course objectives and grading policies.
• Utilize appropriate instructional technology to support learning.
• Maintain a positive classroom/lab environment for student performance.
• Submit reports promptly and practice effective class management.
• Prioritize duties, manage time wisely, and adhere to schedules.
• Provide effective classroom/lab supervision and keep accurate records.
• Handle student work and records professionally; perform other duties as required.

Job Responsibilities

York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Provide students with course syllabus, grading/attendance policy, and other relevant information in a timely manner; relate instructional materials, discussions, and examples and illustrations; pace the instruction over the academic term; provide students with timely assessments; return assessment results in timely manner; relate assessments to course objectives; follow acceptable department and college grading policies; utilize appropriate instructional technology; maintain a positive environment for optimum student performance. Submit reports in timely manner; practice effective class management; prioritize duties and use time wisely; adhere to class schedules and meeting times; provide effective classroom/lab supervision; maintain accurate records; handle students' work and records in professional manner; perform other duties as required.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

• Graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited dental assisting program
• Earned Associates degree in related field (if dental assisting diploma program)
• Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification
• A minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
