About the Role:
The Northern Kentucky University Nurse Anesthesia Program isseeking an experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist(CRNA) to support the education and professional development ofnurse anesthesia students through didactic instruction,lecture-based teaching, simulation, and hands-on clinical skillstraining.
Working collaboratively with Nurse Anesthesia Program faculty, theCRNA educator will provide classroom instruction in areas ofclinical expertise, facilitate simulation-based learning, andassist with skills laboratory experiences. The position will helpstudents connect foundational and advanced anesthesia concepts withclinical practice through evidence-based instruction, casediscussion, simulation, demonstration, and guided practice.
The CRNA educator will contribute to a student-centered learningenvironment that promotes clinical reasoning, critical thinking,technical proficiency, professionalism, and progressive developmenttoward safe and competent nurse anesthesia practice. This roleprovides an opportunity for a practicing CRNA to bring current,real-world anesthesia experience into both the classroom andsimulation environment.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Current certification/recertification as a Certified RegisteredNurse Anesthetist (CRNA) through the NBCRNA
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license
- Current license/privilege to practice as an APRN/CRNA inaccordance with applicable state law
- Graduate degree in nurse anesthesia; master's or doctoralpreparation preferred/required as appropriate for facultyappointment
- Current clinical practice and demonstrated clinicalcompetency
- Commitment to maintaining professional development andevidence-based anesthesia practice
- Ability to effectively teach, demonstrate clinical skills,provide feedback, and serve as a professional role model
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborativeskills
- Ability to promote critical thinking, clinical judgment,student independence, and progressive development

Responsibilities/Duties
The CRNA educator will collaborate with NKU Nurse AnesthesiaProgram faculty to provide simulation, skills laboratory, and othereducational experiences for nurse anesthesia students. Responsibilities may include:
- The CRNA educator will collaborate with Nurse AnesthesiaProgram faculty to provide didactic, simulation-based, andexperiential instruction throughout the nurse anesthesiacurriculum. Responsibilities may include:
- Prepare and deliver classroom lectures and presentations onanesthesia-related topics within the CRNA's areas of clinicalexpertise.
- Translate current clinical practice and evidence-basedanesthesia principles into meaningful, clinically relevantclassroom instruction.
- Facilitate case-based discussions, clinical correlationactivities, and other interactive learning experiences that helpstudents integrate didactic knowledge with anesthesiapractice.
- Facilitate and assist with high-fidelity simulation, tasktraining, skills laboratories, workshops, and other experientiallearning activities.
- Teach and demonstrate anesthesia-related technical andpsychomotor skills, including airway management, anesthesiaequipment, patient assessment, anesthetic planning, monitoring, andother skills appropriate to the student's level ofprogression.
- Participate in simulation prebriefing, scenario facilitation,debriefing, and student evaluation.
- Create an educational environment that encourages activelearning, inquiry, clinical reasoning, critical thinking, andproblem-solving.
- Demonstrate expert anesthesia practice and serve as aprofessional role model for students.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback regarding studentknowledge, clinical reasoning, technical performance,communication, and professionalism.
- Assist program faculty with the development, implementation,and evaluation of lectures, simulation scenarios, skills-trainingactivities, and other instructional materials.
- Participate in student assessment and remediation activities asrequested by program faculty.
- Incorporate current evidence, professional standards, andcontemporary anesthesia practice into teaching activities.
- Collaborate with program faculty to ensure educationalactivities support course objectives, student learning outcomes,and progressive development throughout the curriculum.
- Assist with preparation, organization, and appropriate use ofsimulation equipment and learning spaces.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards and comply withapplicable NKU, College of Health and Human Services, School ofNursing, and Nurse Anesthesia Program policies.
