Des Moines Area Community College invites applications for an Adjunct Communication Skills Instructor to teach face-to-face courses for Spring Semester 2027 at the Ankeny Campus.

The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Communication, Speech, or English (or a related master’s with 12 graduate credits) and demonstrate effectiveness with diverse student populations. Courses are scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:00pm–5:00pm, for a 10-week session.

Qualifications

• Master of Communication, Speech, or English or any master’s degree with 12 graduate semester credits in Communication, Speech, and/or English.
• Demonstrated effectiveness working with populations having diverse values, and/or coming from varied cultures and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned courses in accordance with course competencies and syllabi.
• Develops and/or utilizes a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning styles.
• Fosters a safe and civil learning environment; informs students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies.
• Monitors, evaluates, and documents student attendance, progress and competency attainment.
