Adjunct Anthropology Instructor

Job Description

Basic Function:

  • Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Anthropology courses up to 10 hours/week
  • Organize and teach all levels of Anthropology classes
  • Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning
  • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, including distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses
  • Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired

Required Duties:

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Anthropology or Archaeology
  • Bachelor’s in the above disciplines and Master’s in Sociology, Biological Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Genetics, or Paleontology
  • Equivalent educational background

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching or working in a setting demonstrating the ability to teach Anthropology to community college students
