State of Georgia is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for Adult Education DRC to deliver structured classroom instruction and monitor student progress. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, guiding learners, and maintaining documentation.

The role is part-time with a 1:30 pm–4:30 pm schedule, up to 19 hours weekly. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred, with experience in adult education in a technical college setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required.
  • Master’s degree in education or related field is preferred; two years adult education teaching in a technical college setting is desired.
  • Experience teaching Adult Education classes in a technical college setting is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students' progress toward goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain Student Education Plans and lesson materials; gather instructional resources.
  • Guide and support learners throughout the course.
  • Monitor ongoing progress and performance toward goals and objectives.
  • Participate in program activities and staff development.
  • Maintain required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Maintain a secure classroom environment and support student retention.

Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS
  • INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in education or related field. At least two years teaching Adult Education classes in a technical college setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Adult Education Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction and evaluating students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain Student Education Plans, lesson plans for classroom instruction and obtains or prepares instructional materials for classroom use
  • Provides learner guidance to students
  • Evaluates students' ongoing progress and performance in attaining goals and objectives
  • Participates in EAGLE competition
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports
  • Plans, organizes and participates in staff development and team conferences
  • Maintains a secure classroom environment
  • Assists with student retention
COMPETENCIES

Hourly rate is commensurate with education and work experience. This is a part-time position without insurance benefits; work hours will not exceed 19 hours per week.

Position contingent upon receiving sufficient funding. Applicants scheduled for interviews will be notified of the status of the position. Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and motor vehicle screening.

Day Reporting Centers (DRCs) are community-based programs that are highly structured, non-residential alternatives targeting high-risk/high-need individuals under supervision. Intensive programming targets substance use, mental health, and/or cognitive/behavioral issues through counseling/educational programming and close supervision.

Class schedule will be Monday – Thursday, 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm with additional time allowed for planning.

Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a bachelor's degree from a college or university.
