Adel Elementary is seeking a highly motivated, quality applicant to work as a 1:1 associate at Adel Elementary, a preschool through 1st grade building. The staff at Adel Elementary is incredibly caring and works in a collaborative manner. The hours for this position are 7:45 am‑3:45 pm Monday‑Thursday, and 7:45 am‑1:15 pm on Friday.

Job Summary

The associate role is to assist the teacher in supporting specific learning goals by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve appropriate skill levels.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or in small groups to help achieve skills and understanding of class material.
• Work with a wide range of various needs, including academic, behavioral, and social
  • Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with the students.
  • Guide each student toward making appropriate choices and accepting responsibility for their own behavior.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information regarding an individual student.
• Supervise students outside during arrival, recess, dismissal, and may provide lunchroom supervision.
