Job description

ADDITIVE TECHNICIAN (RAPTOR)

This role will support with the post‑print processing of 3D printed technology for production of the Raptor engine. Technicians on this team are versatile and highly skilled, wearing several hats in an effort to get the job done. The ideal candidate is able to:

  • Safely and efficiently operate several assets to meet Raptor’s rate.
  • Perform work instructions without deviation and provide feedback to improve the process.
  • Continuously seek to improve their workmanship.
  • Able to support the needs of the business to achieve its goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up, operate and maintain furnaces according to procedures, specifications, and instructions.
  • Set up, operate and maintain wire EDM assets according to procedures, specifications, and instructions.
  • Set up, operate and maintain Instron asset (tensile testing) according to procedures, specifications, and instructions.
  • Set up, operate and maintain laser scanning asset (dimensional inspection) according to procedures, specifications, and instructions.
  • Set up, operate and maintain TIG welding asset according to procedures, specifications, and instructions.
  • Fully support all production operations.
  • Always ensure procedures are followed to ensure safety and to deliver defect‑free hardware.
  • Keep a clean, organized, and thoroughly maintained workspace.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications and/or engineering requirements.
  • Develop and implement efficiency and/or safety improvement projects.
  • Maintain consumable supply inventory, and complete cycle counts.
  • Independently perform verifications and document results in a clear, precise, and complete manner.
  • Provide training to other personnel in the additive department as well as cross‑train in other areas to assist the department.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school degree or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ years of experience with hardware assembly, maintenance, and/or operating and maintaining complex machinery.
  • 1+ years of experience with TIG welding.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • TIG welding experience.
  • Knowledge and experience completing welds that pass visual inspection before being X‑rayed or dye‑penned. Certification with AWS D17.1 and D1.2 (1G Certified).
  • Thermal processing experience.
  • G‑Code / machining experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from drawings, controlled documentation and processes such as: assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list.
  • Experience working in the military or at an aerospace manufacturing company (spacecraft, aircraft, etc.).
  • Experience driving engagement with others, taking initiative, and helping push the team to new levels.
  • Strong computer literacy skills with an understanding of how to maximize current technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This is a 1st shift role from 5 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Adhere to SpaceX time and attendance policy.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

  • Propulsion Technician/Level 1: $23.00 – $27.00/hour
  • Propulsion Technician/Level 2: $26.00 – $32.50/hour
  • Propulsion Technician/Level 3: $31.00 – $38.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job‑related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long‑term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long‑term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
