Job summary

DEEP Manufacturing, based in Houston, TX, is seeking an AM engineer to take designs and realise them through wire arc manufacturing. You will contribute to producing parts for WAAM and work with the technology development and production teams.

The role emphasizes developing and producing parts for WAAM, with emphasis on CAD/CAM, DED-arc tooling, and continuous design improvements. Ideal candidates have strong manufacturing and materials knowledge and hands-on experience with 3D printing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of production/manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing technologies and materials.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop toolpaths for Directed Energy Deposition (DED)-arc.
  • Collaborate with production to capture design issues during manufacturing and implement improvements.
  • Transition designs for low-volume, complex components from traditional to additive manufacturing.
  • Exploit additive manufacturing benefits while addressing its limitations.
  • Ensure designs are compatible with advanced manufacturing techniques and material development.
  • Create drawings related to the manufacture of Additive Manufactured parts.
  • Establish design limitations of the DED-arc for product development cycle.
  • Share design knowledge and best practices with the team for continuous learning.

We areseekinga skilled and detail-orientated additive manufacturing engineerto join ourtechnicalteam. As an additive manufacturing engineer, you willplay a pivotal role in developingunique solutions that address our business needsandcapitaliseon additive manufacturing technologies.

In this role, you will work closely with ourtechnologydevelopment andproductionteamtodevelop and produce parts forWire Arc Additive Manufacturing.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Develop toolpaths for Directed Energy Deposition (DED)-arc.
  • Work closely with the production team to capture design-related issues during manufacturing and implement continual design improvements.
  • Drive the transition and optimisation ofdesigns forlow-volume, complex components from traditional manufacturing to additive manufacturing techniques.
  • Utilise innovative thinking to exploit the benefits of additive manufacturing while effectively addressing its limitations.
  • Work closely with the technology development team to ensureengineeringdesigns are compatible withenhancedmanufacturing techniques,processesand material development.
  • Create drawings related to the manufacture of Additive Manufactured parts.
  • Establish design limitations of the DED-arc and integrate these into the product development cycle.
  • Share design knowledge and best practices with the team to support continuous learning.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s,Master’sdegreeor PHDinEngineering, Design,Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of3years relevant work experience in engineering, with a focus on production and manufacturing.
  • Proficiencyin CAD/CAM software
  • Experiencecreating,understandingand verifyingFEA,CFD Models
  • A strong understanding of additive manufacturing technologies and materials.
  • Hands-on experience with operating and troubleshooting 3D printing equipment.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and data-driven approaches to root cause analysis
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communicationand project management skills.
  • A practical understanding of machinery and maintenance
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Extensiveknowledge of designforadditive manufacturing.
  • Experience with robotic welding
  • Knowledge of quality control standard (e.g. ISO 9001,AS9100).
  • Experience and knowledge of engineering change control anddocumentworkflows
  • Strong analytical knowledge
  • Experience with python,
  • Experience with DED-arc technology.
  • Experienceworking with robotic arms
  • Experienceand knowledge of BS8888
