Luna Data Solutions, Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst for a contract-to-hire role. The position requires leading advanced threat detection engineering, incident response, and security operations across cloud and on-premises environments.

You will mentor junior analysts, align practices with NIST/CIS/Zero Trust, manage SIEM/EDR/DLP/SOAR, and report to leadership with detailed intelligence and forensic findings. Hybrid work setup supported in Austin and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional cybersecurity or digital forensics engineering experience.
• 6+ years hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR/XDR, DLP, SOAR, cloud security, email threat management, and vulnerability management tooling.
• 5+ years incident response leadership, forensic investigations, malware analysis, and security engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS Controls, Zero Trust, and enterprise security principles.

Responsabilités

• Lead advanced threat detection engineering, correlation rule development, SIEM tuning, and proactive threat hunting.
• Manage SIEM, EDR, SOAR, DLP, CASB, email threat protection, and cloud security tooling.
• Direct incident response including forensic analysis, malware analysis, containment, eradication, and executive reporting.
• Conduct vulnerability management using Tenable, Qualys, or similar tools, including prioritization and remediation planning.
• Support AI governance and security by assessing risks, enforcing responsible use standards, monitoring for Shadow AI, and ensuring approved AI tools are used safely and in compliance with policies and state AI mandates.
• Develop and enforce cloud security (Azure/M365/AWS/Google) and Zero Trust controls.
• Align security operations with NIST, CIS Controls, ISO, PCI, SOC, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Mentor junior analysts and serve as senior advisor to leadership.
• Produce detailed intelligence, forensic, and executive security reports.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst for a contract role in Austin, TX.

Description

This role performs highly advanced cybersecurity engineering, incident response, threat detection, forensics, vulnerability management, and enterprise security operations.

Essential Duties

• Lead advanced threat detection engineering, correlation rule development, SIEM tuning, and proactive threat hunting.
• Manage and optimize core cybersecurity tools including SIEM, EDR, SOAR, DLP, CASB, email threat protection, and cloud security systems.
• Direct incident response efforts including forensic analysis, malware analysis, containment, eradication, and executive reporting.
• Conduct vulnerability management using Tenable, Qualys, or similar tools, including prioritization and remediation planning.

Required Skills

• 6+ years required: Hands‑on experience with SIEM, EDR/XDR, DLP, SOAR, cloud security, e‑mail threat management, and vulnerability management tooling.
• 5+ years required: Incident response leadership, forensic investigations, malware analysis, and security engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS Controls, Zero Trust, and enterprise security principles.

Preferred Skills

• Experience producing detailed intelligence analysis reports on cyber threats and presenting findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Experience with AI governance and security controls, including evaluating AI tool risks, enforcing responsible use policies, and identifying unmanaged/Shadow AI activity.
• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in cybersecurity, information technology security, computer engineering, computer information systems, computer science, or management information systems or related field.
• Advanced certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, CEH, CySA+, CCSP.
