Turning Point is seeking a compassionate, motivated and board certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor – In Training (ADC-T) to join our dedicated team of professionals providing culturally responsive and trauma-informed care. This is a unique opportunity to grow your career in substance use counseling while making a real impact in the African American community and other diverse populations we serve.

Under the guidance of licensed clinicians and the Director of Treatment Services, you will play a key role in supporting clients on their journey toward recovery in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This position is designed to help you build essential counseling skills and gain the experience needed to pursue licensure as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).

  • Assist in conducting client assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
  • Co-facilitate group and individual counseling sessions
  • Provide culturally specific, trauma-informed support to clients throughout their recovery journey
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and case management

Requirements

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and clinically minded professional to join our team at Turning Point, Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in behavioral health and a commitment to supporting individuals on their recovery journeys. Key qualifications and skills include :

  • Board Certified ADC-T
  • Experience or training in conducting initial client screenings and gathering psychosocial, medical, and substance use histories under supervision
  • Familiarity with administering and interpreting standardized assessments and diagnostic tools to support individualized treatment planning
  • Ability to collaborate with clients in developing and updating treatment plans that are goal-oriented, strengths-based, and clinically informed
  • Skilled in facilitating psychoeducational and therapeutic groups that encourage peer support and active client participation
  • Capacity to provide individual counseling focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and behavioral change strategies under clinical supervision
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with experience or readiness to use electronic health record (EHR) systems to track treatment progress and clinical notes
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to actively participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and contribute to integrated care coordination
  • Demonstrated commitment to culturally competent care, recognizing and respecting the diverse backgrounds and values of all clients
  • Ability to assist clients with discharge planning, aftercare referrals, and community linkage to promote sustained recovery
  • Knowledge of and commitment to maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including confidentiality and agency policies
  • Enthusiasm for professional growth, including participating in supervision and training to work toward clinical licensure
  • Willingness to support program development and quality improvement initiatives under the guidance of the Director of Treatment Services
  • Flexibility to take on additional duties aligned with the agency’s mission to empower individuals in recovery
