Job summary

The City of Eden Prairie is hiring an Adaptive Swimming Instructor at the Community Center in Eden Prairie, MN. This part-time, non-exempt role focuses on teaching people with disabilities basic stroke development, safety, and pool usage.

You will tailor lesson plans, support diverse abilities, communicate with families and staff, and ensure participant safety while providing excellent customer service. Hours are seasonal and flexible; starts at $23/hour.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• 1 year experience in recreation/aquatics/education; 2 years with disabilities preferred.
• Swimming experience required; comfortable in water; strong swimmer.
• WSI certification or willingness to obtain; CPR/First Aid within 30 days.
• Experience with individuals with disabilities; patience, confidentiality.
• Dependability, teamwork, adaptability in program activities.
• Basic MS Office knowledge; ability to communicate effectively.
• Complete pre-employment checks prior to first day.

Responsibilities

• Establishes clear individualized lesson plans and activities.
• Works with individuals with disabilities in and out of the water.
• Assists participants in self-management skills and independence.
• Adapts activities to provide opportunities for success.
• Ensures safety and provides high quality customer service.
• Communicates progress with parents/guardians and staff.
