Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to plan and follow instructions.
• Ability to work with other staff members.
• Ability to be flexible and prepared to teach different grade levels or subject areas.
• 25lbs lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping and squatting.

Responsibilities

• Assume duties of the regular classroom teacher and present prepared lessons.
• Assist the regular teacher in planning daily instructional activities.
• Participate in professional development for long-term substitutes.
• Follow the lesson plan left by the teacher.
• Maintain an environment conducive to effective learning.
• Ensure safety of students and property.
• Meet classes at the designated times and locations.
• Maintain school and classroom routines as much as possible.
• Plan activities when lessons do not cover the full period.
• Ensure activities are appropriate for grade level and subject.
• Oversee pupil behavior during class, transitions and lunch.
