Job summary

North Stonington Elementary School is seeking a Per Diem Substitute Teacher to provide instructional support as needed by covering the regular classroom teacher’s duties during absences. The role spans multiple grade levels within the middle/high school and aims to maintain continuity of instruction and a safe, respectful learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• State substitute teaching credential or equivalent as required by district policy.
• Experience with middle/high school students preferred.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Accept substitute teaching assignments as needed by district staffing needs.
• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher.
• Deliver instruction and facilitate activities according to lesson plans.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and orderly classroom environment.
• Supervise students and enforce school rules and safety policies.
• Take attendance and maintain classroom records.
• Communicate with regular teacher and administration regarding student progress and events.
• Adapt instructional activities to meet student needs when plans change.
• Perform other duties such as study hall supervision or supervision duties as assigned.
