Job summary

The Watson Institute in Pennsylvania seeks a Physical Education Teacher to deliver PE classes for students with autism in the WISCA program at three school locations—Bridgeville, Sewickley, and Sharpsburg.

The role involves collaborating with special education staff to adapt lessons to diverse learners, maintaining safety, supervising activities, traveling to sites per schedule, and reporting progress to families and site leadership, while upholding Clearances and health, safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Pennsylvania Certification in Health and Physical Education required (adaptive PE certificate preferred).
• Related work experience in field required.
• Special education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate mastery of the content area, including relevant national and state standards in Physical Education, Health, and Wellness.
• Travel to each WISCA location to conduct lessons per designated schedule.
• Conduct physical education lessons that promote movement and wellness for K-12+ students.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to regularly evaluate and report on student progress to parents.
• Provide differentiated instruction to promote positive student outcomes.
• Demonstrate planning and preparation strategies and skills.
• Implement strategies for motivating and managing students.
• Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills appropriate for working in a multifaceted program.
• Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on gym equipment and gym areas to ensure safety.
• Complete paperwork as required by the program.
• Cover in classrooms as needed and assigned.
• Other duties as assigned by Site Supervisor / Program Director
