Ashburnham-Westminster Regional Schools is seeking a qualified School Nurse Substitute to provide coverage across its five Pre K–12 schools in Ashburnham, MA. The candidate should be adaptable, organized, and committed to promoting health, safety, and well-being of all students.

Responsibilities include assessing illnesses and injuries, administering medications, maintaining health records, and communicating with parents, staff, and healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Massachusetts.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, willing to travel between district schools.
• Previous school nursing, pediatric, or community health experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to changing assignments, and collaborate with school personnel and guardians.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing coverage in school health offices across the district.
• Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries and medical emergencies.
• Administer medications and perform nursing treatments per provider orders and district policies.
• Maintain accurate health records and document assessments and interventions.
• Communicate with parents/guardians, staff, and healthcare providers about student health needs.
• Implement individualized healthcare plans and support students with chronic conditions.
• Conduct health screenings and assist with health program activities as needed.
• Follow district health policies and emergency protocols.
• Travel between district schools to ensure coverage.
